All Christians are familiar with the The Great Commission, Matthew 28:19-20;
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
But it seems like Christians today have become so insensitive and 'watered down' that The Great Commission is only remembered as a verse. All too often, the Great Commission is only important to us when it's convenient. They have become insensitive to the fact that every non-christian, every person who is not a believer in Christ, everyone who has not accepted Christ will burn in eternal damnation! They will go to hell! If we really looked at that fact, if we really considered that, would we be more sensitive? Would we care more, if we were reminded that the people around us everywhere are going to burn forever in hell, if they do not follow Christ? I would think so, and definitely hope so! The kind little old lady across the street, the man in the grocery store, the kids who are playing and laughing in the park..........they are all burning in a furnace of fire, if they do not know Christ! Where is the love of Christ in Christians' lives? Would not Christ be out their in the world, warning them of their destination?
Forget about the ridicule, the scorn, the hate, and the teasing you might suffer! Forget about the persecution you might be greeted with! Is not it worth it to suffer for our Savior and Lord, who died for you and me? If there was a shark in the water, right by the beach, and you saw it, and there was a man in the water, would you not warn him? Would you not run pell mell down to the water, and try to help the man out, and let him know that there is a shark right there in the water?
If there was a car accident and there was no one around to help the lady stuck in the car but you, would not you rush over to help her. Suppose her leg was caught in the wreckage, and the car was on fire, and the only way to get her out was to break her leg. Would not you break her leg, so you could get her away from the fire, and away from death? Yes, it will hurt her, but you gotta break her leg, you gotta hurt her if she is to survive. After you broke her leg, wouldn't you drag her out of the car, despite the fact that there is shards of glass and medal, wreckage all over the place? Yeah, she'll get cut up, but she'll live! Would not you drag the lady with the broken leg over the shards of glass and medal, and then over more shards of glass and medal, and over other things, to get her away from the burning car? Yeah, she'll get cut up, scraped up, and she has a broken leg now. But would not you allow her to get hurt by that stuff in order to keep her from being burned to death?
The man in the water and the woman in the car are free to refuse help and warnings---but wouldn't you warn the man anyways? Wouldn't you offer help the man and woman anyways? If we are willing to take so many pains to try and save people's lives, shouldn't we be as concerned about people's souls, as well? Shouldn't we be taking pains to pull souls out hell, to warn people that their souls will burn in hell if they don't believe upon Christ? I know that God is love, and yes, we want to tell the people that! But, that lady in the car.....you're gonna want to jump in there and get her out before she gets burned into a crispy human cookie, not poke your head in the car and say "It's okay, Ma'am, don't worry. The paramedics will be here soon". Where is the spunk and love of Jesus in our lives? Christ's love is the kind of love that is willing to hurt or anger someone, in order to save their soul!!!!! God doesn't want anyone to go to Hell, and thus we shouldn't want that either. And if we don't want that, shouldn't we try to prevent that? Isn't that want Jesus would do? Isn't that what Jesus did? People will burn in hell if you do not believe on the Lord Jesus Christ! I won't keep silent about hell and it's horrors, because hell is real, and people will and do go there! God's love is not in Hell, so we should warn people about hell! Thousands of people are going to Hell every day! Shouldn't we try to prevent that?
